- Astronaut attends Apollo Elementary's 45th birthday

Students at Apollo Elementary were told to "dream big and reach for the stars," by retired NASA astronaut, Capt. Jon McBride, at a celebration Tuesday marking the north Brevard school's 45th birthday.
Apollo first opened its doors to students in September 1966, a few months after its namesake NASA program began. Today, Apollo is an "A" school with 730 students in grades Pre-K through 6.
